Andrew and Rachel will perform a programme opening with Beethoven’s C minor Sonata op30 no2 and ending with Brahms’ dramatic Sonata in D minor op108. In between, they will play music by 20th century Hungarian masters Bartok and György Kurtág and 19th century Austro-Hungarian violinist Joseph Joachim, a great friend and advisor to Brahms.’
Andrew (Roberts) is the second violinist of the Fitzwilliam String Quartet. Equally at home in the ‘modern’ and ‘historically informed’ musical worlds, he is also a long-time member of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. Rachel is in demand as a soloist, accompanist and chamber musician and is the Founder and Musical Director of Music & Wine at St. Luke’s. Andrew and Rachel have been playing together since 2012 and are excited to present their third programme at St Luke’s.
